Download: mkvBatchextract

Finally, a way to automatically extract the subtitles from anime/TV/drama episodes of MKV format! *looks up at the sky with arms wide*

When I try to convert MKV (Matroska) files into MP4 format for my iPod touch, my converter cannot recognize the type ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha) subtitle stream and will not include them into the converted file. To make it work, I had to manually extract each subtitle file, convert them into the more normal SRT format, and then my converter works.

However, today, after slaving over using mkvextractGUI to individually extract the subtitle stream from each episode of an anime series, I decided to write mkvBatchextract.exe to do the work for me. The program has only three general requirements:

Download: Trinomial Factorization Utility

When I was in eighth grade, our Algebra I teacher made us factor trinomials all the time. I was so annoyed at doing this, especially for trinomials with larger numbers that I decided to write a program for it:

After being satisfied with this utility, I printed out the source code and showed it to my teacher, who prompted exclaimed “Very nice!” to my surprise. I expected a “Wow, Joshua, now you don’t have to think” response XD

Here’s what the source code looks like (bugs since then have been fixed):

An Unexpected [MMORPG]

So I was researching stuff over the internet. I was bored, very bored.

Then an AIM chat window pops out.

I was busy, but this guy who was talking to me was someone I hadn’t talked to for a long time. Heck, I haven’t seen him for two years.

“want to help with programing a MMORPG” is what he says. “were doing it in c”

Well, I am not so confident in C++ (or C) that I can help with a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game. (C++ or C is a programming language. Search it up on Wikipedia.) But I was interested. So I asked him what I should do. He didn’t know — he asked the leader of this [MMORPG] (that’s right; that’s what it’s called) project. I was invited to a chat room.

Another old friend was there, and we talked about many random activities we did back in school. The leader didn’t really know what I should do to help, and just put me in “Second Tier”, whatever that means. (Admins are “First Tier”.)

My friend does composing, so I asked him to send me a MIDI of his compositions. The music was well written. Very, very cool.
