I’m really glad that most of the anime community enjoyed my work on the subs (see previous post). However, some people wanted to work to make the subs better/translate to other languages, and I hope that they will! (Or maybe they just don’t want to download the OVA again because they already had the raw version.) My Japanese consists of self-studying and not much else (though I am now taking a weekly short class in which I’ve learned nothing new yet), so if you have better Japanese, feel free to work on this.

So James kept talking about how the Lucky Star OVA was coming out, and when it did two days ago, pretty much everyone in the American anime community were screaming “WE WANT SUBS!!!” It was surprising that subs didn’t come out on the second day.

Fansubber: Eclipse Productions

First of all, Happy Valentines Day to all of you out there! (Yay!) Now then–on with the post.
One of the greatest fansubs (anime subtitled by fans) I know is Eclipse Productions. They have been very helpful in delivering high-quality translations, keeping the original Japanese dub. (In my opinion, anime translated by official people are typically not as good as the fansubs’ version.)
They’ve subbed many of my favorite titles, including Clannad, Shakugan no Shana (both seasons), Hayate no Gotoku!, and Kanon, among others. These series haven’t even been completely released yet, lol.
So, yeah. For the hardcore fans who want their fansubs in high definition instead of streaming: here’s the link to their website (opens in a new window/tab). Check the archive for all the titles.
Currently, their titles include Clannad, Claymore, Fate/Stay Night, Hayate no Gotoku!, Kanon, Manabi Straight, Pumpkin Scissors, Rental Magica, Shakugan no Shana (both seasons), and Stratos 4.
