Finally, a way to automatically extract the subtitles from anime/TV/drama episodes of MKV format! *looks up at the sky with arms wide*

When I try to convert MKV (Matroska) files into MP4 format for my iPod touch, my converter cannot recognize the type ASS (Advanced SubStation Alpha) subtitle stream and will not include them into the converted file. To make it work, I had to manually extract each subtitle file, convert them into the more normal SRT format, and then my converter works.

However, today, after slaving over using mkvextractGUI to individually extract the subtitle stream from each episode of an anime series, I decided to write mkvBatchextract.exe to do the work for me. The program has only three general requirements:

When I was in eighth grade, our Algebra I teacher made us factor trinomials all the time. I was so annoyed at doing this, especially for trinomials with larger numbers that I decided to write a program for it:

After being satisfied with this utility, I printed out the source code and showed it to my teacher, who prompted exclaimed “Very nice!” to my surprise. I expected a “Wow, Joshua, now you don’t have to think” response XD

Lucky Star OVA: AVI Version

I’m really glad that most of the anime community enjoyed my work on the subs (see previous post). However, some people wanted to work to make the subs better/translate to other languages, and I hope that they will! (Or maybe they just don’t want to download the OVA again because they already had the raw version.) My Japanese consists of self-studying and not much else (though I am now taking a weekly short class in which I’ve learned nothing new yet), so if you have better Japanese, feel free to work on this.

So James kept talking about how the Lucky Star OVA was coming out, and when it did two days ago, pretty much everyone in the American anime community were screaming “WE WANT SUBS!!!” It was surprising that subs didn’t come out on the second day.

I’m feeling kind of bored today, and I just thought that I’d share with you guys the wallpapers I use on my computer.

-I actually had to photoshop this wallpaper. Before, the words FAERIE CONCLAVE were inscribed in bold black font in the middle of the picture. And the girl on the left was smoking a cigarette (which is something she shouldn’t be able to do while playing violin anyways).

Download: Goshuushousama Ninomiya-kun Selected Artwork

For those of you who could not stand/continue watching this anime but liked the artwork, I’ve made a selection of images from the anime for you to download! XP

I selected one out of the two eyecatches (the images before and after commercial breaks) from each episode. I judged which I thought was better, and in the event that one was too suggestive (*ahem*), I chose the other one.
